Oven Repairs
Oven problems we see across Cape Town
An oven that isn’t heating properly, or that cooks unevenly, usually points to one of a small number of well-understood parts. Because ovens run hot for long periods, heating elements and thermostats are the parts that wear out first.
Common faults
- Not heating at all — a blown heating element is the most frequent cause, especially on the main bake or grill element.
- Uneven cooking — a faulty thermostat or a fan oven’s circulation fan not working properly.
- Taking much longer to reach temperature — a weakening element or a thermostat reading incorrectly.
- Door not sealing — a worn door seal, which lets heat escape and affects cooking results.
- Interior light not working — usually just the bulb, an easy and inexpensive fix.
- Digital display or controls not responding — a control board or wiring fault.
What we can help with
We test the elements, thermostat, and fan, and explain what’s causing the fault before starting any work. Oven elements are common, well-stocked parts, so most heating faults are quick to resolve.
When repair makes sense
Elements, thermostats, and door seals are all inexpensive, worthwhile repairs. A control board fault on an older oven is the one case we’ll weigh more carefully with you.
Cape Town service
We assess and repair built-in and freestanding ovens for households across Cape Town.
Frequently asked questions
Why has my oven stopped heating?
Almost always a blown heating element. We confirm which element and check the thermostat at the same time.
Why does my oven cook unevenly?
Often a thermostat reading incorrectly, or on fan ovens, a circulation fan that isn’t working as it should.
Is it worth repairing an oven element myself?
Elements are accessible on most ovens, but the power supply needs to be properly isolated first. We’re happy to handle it safely as part of an assessment.
